Surfing with a pro, wherever you are
Catching your first wave is unforgettable. A surf coach teaches beach safety, paddling, the pop-up and how to choose waves, then helps you progress to angling along the face and surfing green waves with confidence.
Who it’s for
Total beginners, improvers stuck in the whitewater, and travellers wanting a lesson on a surf trip.
What a session looks like
A beach safety briefing and conditions check, pop-up practice on the sand, then time in the water catching waves with feedback after each ride.
Where you can train
Surf beaches with suitable conditions, or inland surf parks. Board and wetsuit hire may be extra.
What to bring
Swimwear, a towel, sun cream and a warm change of clothes. A wetsuit and board can often be provided.
Surfing FAQs
Can I learn to surf without living by the sea?
Yes. Many people book lessons on a weekend away or at an inland surf park.
How many lessons until I stand up?
Most beginners stand up on whitewater waves in their first or second lesson.
Are Trainow surfing coaches verified?
Yes. Before a coach goes live, Trainow reviews their identity, qualifications and insurance, plus safeguarding and DBS checks for anyone coaching children. Every session is rated by real people, so you can see how a coach performs before you book.
