Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a pro, wherever you are
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches you to control and submit an opponent using leverage, not size. Private lessons are a fast way to learn because your coach can drill escapes, guard retention and submissions with you at exactly your level.
Who it’s for
Beginners nervous about their first class, club students who want to fix specific problems, competitors preparing for tournaments, and kids (booked by a parent or guardian).
What a session looks like
A movement warm-up with shrimps and bridges, then technique drilling with the coach as your partner, positional sparring at a controlled intensity, and a recap of the key details.
Where you can train
A dojo or hired studio with mats, or a home space laid with puzzle mats.
What to bring
A gi or no-gi rashguard and shorts, a mouthguard, water, and short, clean nails.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu FAQs
Gi or no-gi?
Both are available. Tell your coach your preference, or whether you train at a gym that does one or the other.
Is BJJ good for self-defence?
Yes. BJJ is widely regarded as one of the most effective martial arts for controlling an attacker on the ground.
Are Trainow brazilian jiu-jitsu coaches verified?
Yes. Before a coach goes live, Trainow reviews their identity, qualifications and insurance, plus safeguarding and DBS checks for anyone coaching children. Every session is rated by real people, so you can see how a coach performs before you book.
