Horse Riding with a pro, wherever you are
Riding builds balance, core strength and a unique bond with the horse. An instructor teaches you to mount, position yourself correctly and communicate with clear aids, then progresses you through trot and canter, with flatwork or jumping as you grow in confidence.
Who it’s for
Complete beginners, children (booked by a parent or guardian), returning riders and horse owners wanting coaching on their own horse.
What a session looks like
A safety briefing and horse introduction, position and aids work, then exercises at walk, trot and canter appropriate to your level.
Where you can train
Riding schools, livery yards and arenas. Instructors can also coach you on your own horse. Horse hire is usually arranged with the venue.
What to bring
A riding hat that meets current safety standards (often available to borrow), boots with a small heel, long trousers or jodhpurs, and gloves.
Horse Riding FAQs
Do I need my own horse?
No. Most beginners ride a school horse at a riding centre. Your instructor will confirm the venue and any horse hire.
Is there a weight limit for riding?
Riding schools usually set weight limits to protect their horses. Check with your instructor or the venue.
Are Trainow horse riding coaches verified?
Yes. Before a coach goes live, Trainow reviews their identity, qualifications and insurance, plus safeguarding and DBS checks for anyone coaching children. Every session is rated by real people, so you can see how a coach performs before you book.
